Topic Description:

This presentation chronicles key learnings of an engineering team at Harman when they adopted Agile Project Management Principles. Team had prior exposure to Waterfall Methodology but relatively new to Agile. Although commitment, support from stakeholders along with training was provided to teams during Phase -1 of the adoption, real learning was in Phase – 2 when they started practicing the principles by owning complete agile lifecycle from iteration planning to retrospective. Teams realized that Agile is significantly different from Waterfall and significant amount of unlearning required and followed by readiness for faster iterative model that is so integral to Agile. This presentation provides data-backed learnings including strategies to accommodate big projects into agile framework, right mix of metrics, eliminate waste and leverage this transition to build a culture conducive for innovation.
