With an hope to become world’s fifth largest economy along with the world’s largest democracy we steered into 2019; year of great aspirations which will shape India for years to come. On behalf of the Essence editorial team and PMI Bangalore India Chapter, I wish you all a Very Happy & Prosperous Year 2019.
2019 will be a defining year on multiple fronts – whether it is socio-political, geo-political, pure-play economy, technology, sports and project management as a profession. Project management professionals will be entrusted with more authority and responsibility to deliver change in these disruptive times.
With disruptive forces at the helm we need to embrace knowledge and technology in pace, with innovative project management techniques so that we are well equipped to share and deliver the vision of our organization leaders.
The size of the Indian economy is just $25 billion less than the United Kingdom (2017 figures). India is all set to overtake UK to become the fifth largest economy with a growth rate of over 8%.
A Number of structural reforms channelized in 2018 along with the ease of doing business is the key for the Indian economy to move up the ladder.
Around 90% of the organizations are being impacted by disruptive forces. Those who want to understand and manage the impact of these forces can look to proven project management practices not only to survive but to gain competitive advantage during these changing times.
Our roles as project management professionals will evolve as we move from well-defined boundaries of project management and to extend into managing strategy delivery & change; as strategic business partners. Organizations that have cloaked a higher success rate with transformation projects give credit to the project management function, a well blended strategy alongside the right technology. Project leaders will be playing a critical role by adopting the role of educators, advocators, helping teams understand the new-age technology and change; best practices from the industry and from their own experience enabling cross-pollination of learning and new ideas.
PM Essence is also set for a new beginning with new sections and new features packaged in a fresh new look. We are committed to make Essence as the primary touch point and a strong medium to connect and collaborate with the project management community at large. We look forward to your candid feedback and contribution to your own project management magazine – PM Essence.
With a focus on disruption & transformation; it is our constant endeavour at PMI Bangalore India Chapter to bring value added services and propositions to our members. Our initiatives, activities & programs are aligned to this approach and we look forward to a successful journey in the year 2019. Let's stay connected !
Thanks and Best Wishes
