Q. This helps in the understanding individual perception of management of inequalities between individuals?

A. Power distance is defined as the extent to which the lower ranking/less powerful members of institutions/ organisations/ Society within a country expect and accept that power is distributed unequally. It has to do with the fact that a society's inequality is endorsed by the followers as much as by the leaders. It is primarily used in psychological and sociological studies on societal management of inequalities between individuals, and individual's perceptions of that management. People in societies with a high power distance are more likely to conform to a hierarchy where "everybody has a place and which needs no further justification". In societies with a low power distance, individuals tend to try to distribute power equally. In such societies, inequalities of power among people would require additional justification. Power distance is one of the dimensions of Geert Hofstede's cultural dimensions theory. The other dimensions include individualism,
masculinity, uncertainty avoidance index, and long-term orientation
