Project Management Concepts for the Student Community
Launched in September 2009, an Annual PM Primer event is held by PMI Bangalore India Chapter to cater to the student community. It is an initiative aimed at advocacy and creation of appreciation of the project management profession among the students. Over the last 5 years PM Primer had participation from over 50 colleges, around 1000+ students and over 100 student faculties. The program is a 3 hour session that gives the students an understanding of Project Management, highlighting the knowledge areas mentioned in the PMBOK.
1. Eligibility criteria
PM Primer is offered to final year Engineering Students and Post-Graduate Management students in Karnataka. Principals and faculties of the respective colleges are also invited as special guests.
2. Training program course content
The program gives an overview of how a project is initiated, planned, executed, monitored and closed. It also gives awareness about the 10 knowledge areas – Integration Management, Scope Management, Time Management, Cost Management, Quality Management, Human Resource Management, Communications Management, Risk Management, Procurement Management and Stakeholder Management.The course uses real world examples to establish the connection, so that the students can correlate and grasp much better.
The program starts with registration of the participants, followed by the inauguration by an esteemed and renowned personality. The session is then conducted in 2 parts of 1.5 hours each by practicing project managers in renowned industries.
This is a complimentary program conducted annually by the PMI Bangalore India Chapter

6. Registration Process
Registration for the program is done online by logging into the corporate registration portal. Access to the portal is restricted to following people:
- Placement Officers of the College
- Professors of the College
- Student Coordinators authorised by the College or Department heads of the college

A soft copy of the registration form has been sent to the email of the Principal/Dean/Placement Officer/Staff Coordinator of the last years PM Primer. Please complete the registration form and send it back to firstname.lastname@example.org for completing the registration. Due to venue restrictions, the number of seats is limited which we will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis.
Chapter will process the request within 2 business days and access will be provided to the coordinator.
The authorized person listed as Coordinator can then register the students / faculties online by clicking the Register Now button below which will be announced soon.
