Supervisors (team leaders) across industries have often expressed the need for a quantifiable way of assessing their project managers.
PMCDF is a tool that can help leaders assess their project managers using industry benchmarks. This need based solution will help leaders:
- Increased ability to deliver quality projects
- Increased capacity to hire skilled people and new talents
- Increased competitiveness within the industry market
- Valuable indicator for organizations’ educational programs
We identified this need through a series of discussions and surveys done with an identified group of organization leaders. These leaders are a part of PMI Internal REP program which includes corporations like IBM, Nokia, Ericsson, Cisco, KPMG to name a few.
We engaged a 3rd part research team to test and validate the hypothesis of having a guideline framework aligned to PMI PMCD Standard with 57 interviews from 10 organizations.
The 2nd phase of research was done with 400 interviews covering 216 companies. The outcome gave us data points of 747 practitioners, which captured the minimum, optimum and industry average rating for benchmarking.
This PMCD framework will help the supervisors to assess the performance of their project managers, to hire the project manager with right skill set and to nominate the right project manager for the projects.
The framework has been tested by Sasken Technologies Ltd.

He was associated with Project management academy within Wipro for 12 years and also headed this group. In this group, he worked on building the cadre of project management within Wipro. Currently he is in a coach role for project delivery through internal crowdsourcing.
Srinivas is collaboratively working with PMI as part of PMI EEF & PMMI iREP forums to arrive at industry frameworks / artifacts that can be shared with larger project management community.

The Construction Extension to the PMBOK Guide documents the best practises related to the construction industry. This document also weaves the concept of agile and agile practices around construction industry project management methodologies. Therefore, to embrace the Construction Extension, it is essential that one has an understanding of the PMBOK and the Construction Extension, so that with understanding there will be acceptance. The talk is aimed to generate interest in PMI and PMI methodologies and encourage more engagement of professionals from this community with PMI.

Lt Col L Shri Harsha, PgMP, PMP comes with a rich and diversified experience of three decades in the construction industry. Apart from working on challenging projects in hostile terrain and adverse climatic conditions within the country, he has also worked in the cold region of Antarctica and the virgin terrains of the African continent.
Apart from a BE in Civil Engg, he also holds two Master degrees, one in Business Administration and the second in Business Law. A staunch ground soldier, he still has his roots firmly on the ground, and travels extensively to oversee multiple projects in his in his role as a consultant with various multinational companies. Currently he is the Deputy Program Director of the Vizag Smart City. He also leverages his techno legal acumen to settle technical disputes by arbitration, negotiations, and reconciliations.
He has published over thirty technical papers on a variety of professional topics and human competency development in national and international forums. His intellectual and thought leadership has been acknowledged in the form of awards by many professional bodies.
