PMI Bangalore Chapter

Editor’s Note November 2019

Editor’s Note

Dear Readers,

The Pulwama Attack

Editor 2018

On 10th November, our Nation lost its 10th Chief Election Commissioner and a visionary leader Shri. T. N. Seshan. Mr. Seshan was an Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer who had held several important positions in state government and central government. Mr. Seshan will be most remembered for comprehensive election reforms during his tenure as Chief Election Commissioner of India.

PMI Bangalore India Chapter has very special memories of his address in its signature program Project Management Practitioners’ Conference (PMPC) in 2010.

One of our board members, Shri P S Ravindranath, recalls some of the precious moments from his interaction with Mr. Seshan. “Shri T. N. Seshan was an assertive Program Manager who knew how to handle mission critical situation in an exemplary manner and make things happen”.

Mr. Seshan was known for his very spontaneous replies. In a lighter moment before his address at the PMPC 2010, he had a food stain on his white shirt. When Mr. PSR drew his attention to it, he spontaneously replied, “It’s a stain on my shirt and not on my character”. It reflected his integrity and ethics which his persona had always reflected. He taught the same lessons to everyone around him and of course a valuable lesson for all of us as Project Managers.

From the time he first began interacting with the chapter, till the conference, it was a journey of what real project management is. In spite of several challenges like his health, other commitments, travel restrictions, the ultimate compliment that made us beam with pride was his comment after the conference, “you chapter guys are real Project Managers”. Made everyone involved really proud of all the hard work.

The PMI Bangalore Chapter offers its tribute to this Ramon Magsaysay Award recipient . May we have many more champions like him.

And may his soul rest in peace.

Thanks and Best Wishes
