“Project Management from Doer’s Diary”
– A CEO’s take based on present situation
Napoleon is often quoted to have said: “I have never had a plan of operations.”
Field Marshal Helmuth Karl Bernhard Graf von Moltke (26 October 1800 – 24 April 1891) was an architect of Germany’s Wars of Unification (1864–71). When asked about strategy, planning and executing to a plan he remarked; “No plan of operations extend with any certainty beyond the first contact with the hostile force.”
Over the years the original quote became: “No battle plan survives the first bullet of the enemy.”
All our well-laid out project management plans, rulebooks, Microsoft PM tools, went haywire when the virus hit us and paused the entire world.
The pandemic was the hostile force that the world encountered which reset everything that we took for granted.
Project Management principles faced its toughest ever challenge. We turned to planning and executing on the fly. It was like changing the wheels of a car while driving.
It was more than science, it was the translation of science of Project Management into practical life, the development of an entirely new principle of meeting the ever-changing circumstances with nimble execution.
We created the Doer’s Diary – a survival kit for Project Management in volatile times.
