PM Essence Testing Technique in Agile – Pair Testing   By - Mrs.Rama Komarabathini, PMP, PMI-ACP Introduction Software projects, especially the product development teams, today are fast moving away from the traditional development methodology and adopting Agile for obvious advantages. However, advantages are accompanied by a number of challenges especially to the testing team.   Agile projects introduce time-boxed development – hence clearly time is the most important constraint.    Agile brings in faster pace of development hence squeezing the QA team's ability to develop and maintain test cases. With Agile's principle of “welcome changing requirements even late in development cycle”, the test scripts need

PM Essence Overlooking The Cloud By - Rajesh Dangi, PMP While technology companies adapt to newer technologies in the ever changing landscape of development tools, testing metaphors and usability frameworks it is imperative that bare metal IT infrastructure calls for it share and piggy back on these projects and program managers with complex workloads, shrinking timelines and instant go to market dreams. It means that the datacenters in the traditional way could no longer cope with manual allocation of technology resources, configuring environments, deal with operating systems, keep-them-running patches and excel driven capacity management micros for additional resources to deal with demanding compute, memory, storage at runtime. The exhausted crowd then inve...

PM Essence Q. This is the method used to narrow down a large list of possibilities to a smaller list of the top priorities or to a final selection and allows an item that is favored by all? A. Multivoting narrows a large list of possibilities to a smaller list of the top priorities or to a final selection. Multivoting is preferable to straight voting because it allows an item that is favored by all, but not the top choice of any, to rise to the top. Multivoting is also called as NGT voting or nominal prioritization. Multivoting is used majorly for below: • After brainstorming or some other expansion tool has been used to generate a long list of possibilities. • When the list must be narrowed down, and • When the decision must be made by group judgme

PM Essence Internet of Things – What does it mean to you and me? By - Sadagopan S. IT industry is often termed as a manufacturing industry that manufactures acronyms! IoT (Internet of Things) is one such acronym, perhaps the most discussed in recent times; the way we have learnt of acronyms like RAM /ROM in 60's, OS in 70's, DBMS in 80's, TCP/IP in 90's and LTE in the last decade. With IT industry impacting the life of practically everyone in the planet – thanks to 2+ billion PCs and 5+ billion mobile / smart phones today – there is widespread interest in knowing the impact of new IT technology that is “hot”. PM Essence Editor’s Note   Dear Friends,   Greetings from PMI Bangalore India Chapter!   The month of February heralded one of the most awaited sporting events for the cricket crazy nation like us. Arguably no other sport is as popular in India as Cricket- with media often spicing up the median coverage by glorifying, cricket is a nothing but a "religion" in our country. The 2015 Cricket World Cup is the 11th Cricket World Cup, jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand from 14th February to 29th March 2015. 14 teams will play 49 matches in 14 venues. When the World Cup began, India definitely were not the strong contenders to defend the title. The critics were ruthless in pointing out India's toothless bowling attack and it's array of out-of

PM Essence Four things I learnt as a volunteer- Tathagat Varma, PMP   I have been a passionate volunteer since last 20+ years. During this time, I have had wonderful opportunities of volunteering with global organizations such as IEEE, ACM, PMI and various Agile community groups like AgileIndia, while also had opportunities to volunteer with small, but not unimportant, causes, such as my apartment association and my community social.  Why, I even volunteered to spend 16 months in icy continent of Antarctica - something no one in their right senses would ever do! (and here is the TEDx talk I delivered on it.)   While some experiences lasted longer (and better) than others, all of them left me with invaluable learnings. In this article, I ...
