The Art and Soul of Leadership -Lata Subramanian Leadership is primarily about grooming employees to punch above their weight. One way to achieve that is by nurturing employee self-development through exposure to the Arts and the Humanities. Help employees grow and flourish and so will the organization. Let's call it The Art and Soul of Leadership. Central to the thought process I am positing here is the fact that an organization becomes a living entity only after people breathe life into it. The life thus infused into a business becomes the soul of the organization and is labelled organizational culture. Conscious moulding of that life is the art and soul of leadership. Key to understanding this seemingly abstract thinking are three simple facts. First, people work to raise the quality ...

Why I attend every PM Footprints Session ... Because you don't know what you don't know. -Nibu Thomas, PMP That's at the top of the list. And I'll tell you why. I'm a certified PMP, so the PDUs are important. But I don't really need to attend every PM Footprints session. Between PM Footprints sessions and other learning programs I attend, I usually accumulate the necessary PDUs in the first year itself. (I carry over 20, so it's just 40 PDU that I need to accumulate.) And as you may realise later - I'm not even into core Project Management! So why do I do it? I've always believed that innovation lies at the intersection of different sciences, technology, professions, processes, and even opinions. Which means I need to step outside what I usually do, and look at other arenas that could in...

Ensuring the grass is always green on your side - Raja Jamalamadaka Last month, I was returning home from a business meeting and found myself using the services of a shared rickshaw which is the equivalent of a shared cab. I squeezed in along with six other passengers who were already crammed inside the rickshaw. Along the journey, I realized that most of my co-passengers were daily wage earners. Whose conversations ranged from the biggest sale in town and the juiciest gossip from the film industry to the latest trends in the job market and advise to Narendra Modi on national progress. Although non-participative at first, I gradually found myself getting involved in the discussions. Soon, everyone started sharing struggles from their personal life. This was unusual for a corporate profe...

This is the solution to common problems where the ineffective solutions may have adverse effects. A. Antipatterns are common solutions to common problems where the solution is ineffective and may result in undesired consequences. An antipattern is different from bad practice when: • It is a common practice that initially looks like an appropriate solution but ends up having bad consequences that outweigh any benefits • There's another solution that is known, repeatable, and effective. The concept of antipatterns was inspired by the concept of design patterns, which indicate common effective solutions to common problems. Antipatterns were initially applied in the context of software development, but have been extended to other aspects of software engineering, organizations, and Project Ma
