Our track record over the years (2000 - Till date)

Over the years, the Chapter has been contributing its mite to the Development Sector by collaborating with Not for profit organizations and getting involved in outreach activities with the economically and socially  needy and vulnerable sections of the society through these Not for profit organizations or in some rare cases directly.

Donations to Covid (INR 1.00 Lakhs)

Chapter donated INR 1.00 Lakhs to a New Delhi based NGO to support this NGO towards its efforts for Covid relief in May 2021

This amount was utilized specifically for providing oxygen supplies in Delhi and NCR as well as in states of Rajasthan and Uttarakhand.

2020 will go down as a year that made our resolve stronger.   

The safer way of conducting Chapter activities by pivoting our Chapter events to online and chapter staff working from home.

Food Donation under UNSDG

As part of our commitment  to UN Sustainablity Development Goals, Chapter collaborated in a small way with a Pan India NGO to distribute food for the needy and attacking the problem of food poverty( 2021).  Hunger is a story we can end.

The NGO is a volunatary based Zero funds organization where food distributed to the needy is sourced from surplus or freshly cooked food on a goodwill basis.  We distributed through this NGO food to 50+ needy families in and around Domlur and Indiranagar areas.

PM Fundamentals for NGOs Workshop

Chapter has developed a one day PM Fundamentals Workshop for NGOs exclusively for the development sector.

The program is tailor made to suit the need of each NGO and its operating environment to help the NGO leaders and project managers effectively implement, in their projects, the templates that are used during the workshop. 

This one-day workshop is designed with very minimal concepts presentation and uses the case study-based simulation technique to explain and apply the concepts in a collective team exercise.

So far we have conducted as public programs on a probono basis

5 public workshops so far (02 in 2018, 01 in 2019 and 02 in 2020)

01 workshop in 2019, again probono, exclusively for the requirements of a particular Pan Bangalore based NGO

01 online program in 2020 through one leadership training institute of a Development Sector Organization

02 Public Virtual Workshops, both probono, in 2021

TABS distributed to students in rural areas. (INR 1.00 Lakhs)

Chapter funded, during Covid period in Sept 2020, to a Bangalore based NGO to procure TABS, loaded with content of 10th Standard Syllabus, for students of Jayamangali Rural High School wherein the village has the challenge of electricity and internet connectivity

Seed Ball Making

The Chapter joined hands with an NGO and reached students of a Public School in ECity to create awareness about environment among the students, who are future citizens of the country.                                                                                                                                                                                       

Specific drive to reduce deforestation situation by planting seed balls at open spaces.

Students were encouraged to make 1000 seed balls in Sept 2019.

Eco Friendly Paper Bags Making and Distribution

Chapter Volunteers and their Family members volunteered their time to convert waste ( used newspapers) to assets (paper bags) and these were distributed to vegetable and flower vendors.(Aug 2019)

Blood Donation Camp

As part of 50 years of Celebration of PMI, the Chapter organized a Blood Donation Camp for both members and non-members at Rotary Bangalore –TTK Blood Bank run by Bangalore Medical Services Trust, New Thippasandra.(Aug 2019) 

Kerala CM’s Relief fund (INR 0.25 Lakhs)

Chapter donated INR 25K for cyclone in 2018  through our sister Chapter, PMI Kerala Chapter

ePatashala Project (INR 2.39 Lakhs)

The Chapter supported a Bangalore Based NGO for distributing ePatashala materials Aids (laptops/desktops with elearning materials to the schools) to around 100 schools around Bangalore, and by the end of January 2014 nearly 800 kits has been distributed.

It is a part of our initiative to join hands with NGO who are involved in work relating to transforming the lives of school going children who are often challenged with regular power cuts and easy access to computer trainings. 

Agile Scrum in a day- Learn by doing

The Chapter organized this workshop on behalf of a Bangalore based NGO for their fund raising efforts in Aug 2014

The one day workshop is to introduce the participants to the fundamentals of Agile principles, concepts and practices of Agile Scrum.

Vidyadeepa (Light for Education)

Solar LED lamps for High School Students in rural areas (INR 1.10 Lakhs)

The program is aimed at providing battery powered LED Lamps to needy Grade 9 and Grade 10 students in rural areas in the outskirts of Bangalore for studying in the night. The batteries get charged using solar power during the day so that there is no cost to the students. The lamps are returned by the students at the end of the year for distribution to the next batch of students.

Chapter funded 100 such LED Lamps in Aug 2011.

In addition to this, Chapter facilitated the NGO to set up a stall at the PMI National Conference 2011 held in September 2011 at no cost. The NGO was able to mobilize donations from the conference delegates to fund an additional 20 LED Lamps.

The NGO has utilised the funds to provide 120 solar LED lamps to students in the following schools:

  • 30 LED lamps have been provided to students of 9th and 10th standard in Paranga School, located about 10 km from Magadi town.
  • 30 LED lamps have been given to students of 10th standard in Yeliyur Govt. High School, located about 8 km from Devanahalli, Bangalore Rural District.
  • 15 LED lamps have been given to students of 10th standard in Basaweshwara High school, Huliyar, Tumkur District.
  • 15 LED lamps have been given to students of 10th standard in Sree Maruthi Gramath Vidya Samsthe, Chikkabidare village, Huliyar, Tumkur District.
  • In addition, 30 solar LED lamps have been distributed at Shirdi Sai Ashram, Pavagada, Tumkur District, where about 60 mentally and physically challenged senior citizens are looked after.
  • Because of the regular daily power cuts in the town, gas petromax lights were being used, which have been discontinued after the installation of the solar LED lamps.

One Day Seminar on Project Management

Chapter conducted this One Day Seminar for 11 successive years on behalf of a Bangalore based NGO for their fund raising efforts (2000 – 2010)

This intense, one-day training addresses all the key concepts of project management, exposes the participants to the nine knowledge areas and provides insights into professionalism in managing projects.

The program introduces project management principles to those aspiring to get PMP certification, and also serves as an excellent ‘refresher’ for practicing project managers who are already certified.
